Lemon Flavoured Buttercream

Lemon-flavored buttercream is a delicious and tangy twist on the classic buttercream recipe. The zesty lemon flavor adds a refreshing and bright taste to any dessert, making it a perfect pairing for cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. This recipe is easy to follow and only requires a few simple ingredients, making it a quick and convenient way to elevate any baked goods. With the perfect balance of sweetness and citrus, this lemon-flavored buttercream is sure to become a favorite in your recipe collection.


What you need:

  • 1 x Sachet of Ingenious Edibles Lemon Drizzle Ultra Concetrated Flavoured Icing Sugar

  • 450g of plain icing sugar

  • Yellow Food Colouring (Optional)


Instructions:

  1. Sieve the 450g of icing sugar in to a mixing bowl

  2. Add the sachet of Ingenious Edibles Lemon Drizzle Ultra Concetrated Flavoured Icing Sugar to the plain icing sugar and mix until well combined.

  3. In another mixing bowl, beat 250g of softened butter until it becomes light and fluffy.

  4. Add your icing sugar mixture to the butter, and gently mix it in before gradually increasing the speed of the mixer to full speed. Beat the mixture for approximately 20 seconds.

  5. Optional: Before beating the mixture, add a splash of yellow food colouring to bring our a lemony colour in your buttercream


Tips:

  • During warm weather, it is advisable not to leave the butter out overnight, as it may become too soft.

  • In colder seasons like spring, autumn, or winter, it may be challenging to maintain the softness of the buttercream. To soften it, you may add a tablespoon of hot water or condensed milk, milk, or cream. However, if you add cream or milk, make sure to use the buttercream within 24 hours or store it in the refrigerator.

  • For buttercream, it is best to use a gel colouring.
